August 2018 newsletter

Happy August!


End of last month, I again started practicing the simple folk dance from Kerala called Kaikottikali, with my fellow sisters for a small performance at the local temple on August 25th.
Since then I have been more in touch with my feminine side.  After going bald three months back, the hair is just about growing and there has been a peaceful sense of gender neutrality seeping in.  This is a welcome change.
Thus was decided the topic for this month's health talk!  Yup, you guessed it right, its about female health, esp menstrual health.
I am also excited that the talks will now be at three locations, and the Tibetan singing bowls are at two locations!  Yay!  Super thrilled!

MENARCHE TO MENOPAUSE, a health talk:
It is alarming to see onset of periods in patients as young as 8.  This creates a lot of issues physically and psychologically in these young ones.  Early periods means early menopause as well.  These days, many women start experiencing menopausal symptoms in their late 30s and early 40s. The amount of women in the reproductive phase suffering from PCOD or PCOS is also immense.  All these diseases have been successfully prevented, managed and even reversed without any medicines.  I have complied this 1 hour talk based on my personal as well as clinical experience.

TIBETAN SINGING BOWL:
This monthly group healing is a good way to keep your energy levels high, to give yourself a cleansing sound bath and to release any minor aches and pains. Many, who are ready, have had transcendental experiences during these sessions. Also an ideal meditation for those who find it difficult to concentrate or even meditate.

CHAKRA BALANCING:
 I always look forward to the wonderful energy manifestations of this group meditation!  The resonating vibrations from the chanting of the beej mantras and the affirmations, keeps the venue bright for days! This is a meditation best done in groups.

Recipe Space!

Since a major portion of my practice and advice is centered around food, I have decided to share some of my favorite recipes whenever I can.  This month is for menstrual health, ie linked with female introductory organs--majorly Uterus and Ovaries.  There is this line of thought in healing circles that the food which are naturally shaped like specific areas or organs, seem to aid the functions of that area of the body.  From that view point, some of the best food for uterine and ovary health are:  Avocados, grapes, green leaves, papaya, dates, cacao, almonds to name just a few.  From the nutritional sense, these food are also high in good fat, iron, magnesium.  Here is a recipe that is not only good for the females, but yummy as well to suit all genders and ages.

Avocado Cacao Mousse:


INGREDIENTS;
4 medium, ripe Avocado
1/3 cup date paste
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
1/4 cup almonds/walnuts/raisins for garnish
PROCESS:
In a blender or a food processor, blend the avocado pulp till very smooth.  Slowly add in the other ingredients.  Blend till smooth.  Refrigerate for 2 hours or in deep freezer for half an hour.  Garnish with the nuts, dry fruits or fresh fruit.  Serve chilled.
